Hello Freddie - I have just bought the book about you from your son. I just found out the book existed and as an ex ABA participator aged 89 I can remember very clearly your progress over the years. I originate from Tooting so that makes me a great fan of yours. If you would like to get in touch please email me and I will write you a letter soon.
Yours in sport

Hello Mr Woodman, Hope you are keeping well. We have just found your website and read it with much interest and excitement. We were so very delighted to see our dad's name in your boxing record! He was Jim Abrahart and the fight was on the 17th March 1958. You beat him in the SW ABAs that year. My brother, sister and I, grew up hearing your name and being told by dad what a first class boxer you were. He said you must have been to have beaten him! Very sadly we lost our beloved dad 4 years ago, but he would love to know that we are able to make this contact with you now. With very best wishes to you and your family.

Good to hear about Freddie, we became good friends in our amateur days, we caused some havoc when we were together in Berlin in 1952, but the main thing is we both won our fights and we got a 5 - 5 draw, London against the Germans may have been the first English team to go there after the war, Paul your right to be proud of your father he was a great guy, pity he never turned pro!

Hi Fred, I have unearthed a pewter tankard here in Cornwall with a large rams (?) horn handle from the goods of the estate of family member Mr Jack Brander who sadly died last year. His partner, Betty Lethbridge (86, and my Mother in Law) tells us it was won by Jack's brother Peter who later emigrated to Australia. Betty and Jack visited Peter out there and Betty still has photos of him in later life. Sadly he pre-deceased his brother Jack. Betty wants to clear the room and has asked that I take stuff to the charity shop. Do you think Slough ABC would be interested in it for a trophies case? If so we can get it to them as family are nearby. There is a green enamel badge with SW_DIV AMATEUR BOXING ASSOCIATION in brass with the inscription "CHAMPIONSHIPS 1953 WINNER 9st" I've googled it and your name comes up - reguarly!!! If you have any memories of Peter I'd much like to relate them to Betty. She has gone into Treliske Hospital today for major surgery, so it would be good to have news and to help jog her memory while she is too sore to do much else.
Kind regards, Oonagh
P.S You have a splendid and very comprehensive website - congratulations!

In the early 50's Freddy got me into boxing at Earlsfield Maderias club, through my mother who worked at pascals sweet factory in Mitcham. My father used to take me to watch boxing. Freddy was a very helpful and nice man.

Hello Fred, you probably won't remember me but I worked as a bar-man at your Bishop Bonner Pub when Henry Cooper visited, A great evening was had by all. Just to say you we're always fair to work for and I enjoyed every minute. Best of luck, good health.

Former Light Heavyweight professional boxer and England Team mate of Fred.
I was at York hall the night Freddie fought an Exhibition fight with Bobby Ramsey (Kray Twin Associate) in the late 1970s, if it had been a contest Freddie WON the fight!
It was the first and only time I saw Ramsey fight, I wanted you to know how good he was because when he was with the Kray Twins he went to South Africa and got Billy Hill (Gangland Boss) out of trouble knocking a few gangsters out although Ramsey was a decent bloke.
